Course & elevation
Fargo is genuinely flat, true to the surrounding North Dakota plains, and both starts and finishes inside the Fargodome stadium — a rare indoor finish. The large city loop crosses the Red River into Moorhead, Minnesota and back, touring neighborhoods and college campuses along the way. With no real hills, wind is the defining variable, not terrain.
Key moments
- Mile 1–3Out of the Fargodome and into the city streets — easy on the fast, flat opening.
- Mile 13–18Across the Red River into Moorhead, Minnesota, past the Concordia and MSUM campuses.
- Mile 19–24Back into Fargo through themed neighborhood block parties.
- Mile 26Back inside the Fargodome for the signature indoor stadium finish.
Pacing strategy
A flat course that rewards even or negative splitting — the only real challenge is the prairie wind. Tuck into packs on exposed, windy stretches, stay patient early, and trust the flat profile to deliver a strong second half.

Fueling & hydration
Themed water stations spaced roughly every 1.5–2 miles, with water and a sports drink. With nothing to break your rhythm, a fixed gel schedule keeps carbs topped up to the finish.
Weather
Late-May Fargo is mild but exposed — highs typically in the mid-60s to low-70s and lows in the 40s, with prairie wind the biggest factor on the open plains.
